Kenworth Super-Cushion Air Springs Replacement Parts Catalog
Kenworth Air Springs for Trucks, Trailers and Buses
Super-Cushion air springs for trucks, trailers buses, and cab & seat springs protect cargo, provide constant-level hauling, and deliver long, trouble-free service.
Super-Cushion air springs give your trucks, trailers and buses a new high in productivity and long life. They offer a quiet, cushioned ride. Truck, trailer and bus bodies last longer than with steel springs because there is less vibration. The driver rides in greater comfort, becomes less fatigued and stays more alert. Plus cargo has better protection from shock and vibration. Whenever you want to add an axle, Super-Cushion air springs fit right in.

Super-Cushion air springs, when used with leveling valves, also maintain consistent trim regardless of the load. That means clearance heights remain constant, and that trailer floors are flush with loading dock floors for ease of loading and unloading.
For driver comfort, load cushioning, and long life for your trucks, trailers, bus, and cab and seat springs specify Goodyear Engineered Products Super-Cushion air springs.
How to Choose the Correct Replacement Air Spring?
Many air springs appear to be similar in design and size at first glance. However, differences in the manufacturing techniques used for similar looking air springs may create substantial differences in operating dimensions. Specifically, the inflated (or operating) diameters of seemingly identical air springs will vary depending on the angle of the reinforcing fabric used in the flexible member.
For example, air spring models 1R12-092 and 1R13-039 appear very similar when first examined. However, the 1R12-092 model will inflate (operate) on vehicle at approximately 12” diameter, while the 1R13-039 model will operate at 13” diameter. In a substitution of the 1R13-039 air spring for the 1R12-092 in a truck trailer suspension, the larger air spring inflated diameter would most likely rub on another suspension component (such as a tire, shock absorber, or bracket) and cause failure within a few miles.
Kenworth Air Spring Identification
- Start with the original equipment or aftermarket part number. It is usually located on a label affixed to the top plate of the air spring. If it is a Goodyear Engineered Products part number, simply double check the product photo in the main body of the catalog. If you have an O.E. number or a Firestone number look in the cross-reference section.
- If the O.E. part number or aftermarket part number is unknown you should begin your search with the bellows number. The number is molded into the rubber part of the air spring. Once identified you can narrow down the choices in the Flexible Members Index section.
- Measure the width of the top plate and make a note of the bolt pattern or taps.
- Measure the width of the piston or bottom bead plate and make a note how the bolt pattern is oriented compared to the bolts on the top plate (Inline or Rotated). The view of this orientation should appear as if you are looking directly through a clear drinking glass from the top to bottom. This is how the catalog illustrations are drawn.
- Measure the height of the air spring with no air pressure from the top plate to the bottom of the piston. This is the extended height.
- Compress the bag as far as possible with no air pressure and measure the height. This is the compressed height or minimum height.
- Measure the distance from center to center of each bolt onthe top and bottom of the air spring.
Air Spring Installation
Before you start installing air springs, make sure you have all the necessary tools and equipment to perform the repair safely. Familiarize yourself with the suspension on which you are performing the repair by reviewing the manufacturer’s service guide.
If you are in doubt about something, ask for assistance from a qualified suspension specialist, the suspension manufacturer or the air spring manufacturer; it can save you a lot of time and aggravation later in the job.
