Instruction Manual for Kuhn Rikon RACLETTE-GRILL
Read the instructions below carefully before using your raclette grill. Pay special attention to the safety instructions marked with a red triangle.

Preparing a raclette and using the grill
Lay the grill plate (ribbed side up) on top of the two metal supports, making sure that it is firmly in place. If you are using the stone grill plate (accessory), place it so that the juice groove is on top and the slits below fit over the metal supports. Turn the temperature control dial to the left to the symbol (= lowest temperature). Plug the raclette grill into the mains power supply to begin using it.
Turn the temperature control dial about half-way to the right and preheat your raclette grill without the serving trays for approximately 5 minutes (or 20 minutes if you are using the stone grill plate).
Place a slice of raclette cheese (about 5 mm thick) on a serving tray and slide the tray under the grill. You may place various other ingredients on the tray along with the cheese, for example onion rings, garlic, chanterelles, raw ham, bacon, vegetables and fruit cut into small pieces etc. Make sure that the ingredients do not touch the heating element as they will burn.
Wait until the cheese has melted, then take hold of the tray by its handle and pull it out from under the grill. Using the spatula, slide the melted cheese off the serving tray and onto your plate. Raclette is usually served with boiled potatoes, pearl onions, gherkins and fresh salad.
Using the grill
You may also use your raclette grill to grill food. You do not necessarily have to be melting cheese at the same time. Lay the grill plate (ribbed side up) on top of the appliance’s two metal supports, making sure that it is firmly in place. If you are using the stone grill plate (accessory), the juice groove must be on the top, and the slits below must fit over the metal supports.
Plug the power cord into the mains power supply to begin using your raclette grill. Turn the temperature control dial to the right (to the «+» symbol) and preheat the raclette grill without the serving trays for about 5 minutes (or 20 minutes if you are using the stone grill plate). Place the food to be grilled on the grill plate or the stone grill plate (accessory) until it is cooked.
Important tips for grilling:
- Lightly oil fat-free meat before grilling it. Meat with a moderate amount of fat can be grilled in its own juices.
- Best results are obtained using small, tender morsels of meat.
- Meat is well done when the juices from the meat change colour.
- If you grill cold meat, condensation will occur, and the meat inside will not be heated sufficiently. Therefore, make sure that the meat is at room temperature before placing it on the grill.
- Seasoning and marinades will burn during grilling. Therefore, we advise you not to season or marinade raw meat. Instead, season the meat with spices or barbecue sauce once it is cooked.
- You may also grill vegetables and fruit cut into pieces: place them on the grill plate until cooked.
- Cook heat-sensitive food such as fish at medium heat, or cut it into pieces and cook it in a serving tray on top of the grill plate.
