KTM began researching into its first multi-cylinder engine and the decided on a 75 degree V-twin. KTM took an LC4-powered Enduro, chopped it up and this is the origins of KTM took to the asphalt in its rebirth and the 620 DUKE was unleashed. KTM first won the Dakar Rally with Italian Fabrizio Meoni in 2001. Since that first victory, only KTM-mounted riders have won this event – 16 consecutive wins. A new KTM factory was opened on the outskirts of Mattighofen. The main factory building houses the four main production lines. The brand established itself as a serious player in the Travel Enduro market with the arrival of its first multi-cylinder contender. The LC8-powered 950 ADVENTURE.

1934 Hans Trunkenpolz opens a repair workshop in Mattighofen Austria.
1951 Hans Trunkenpolz built his first motorcycle.
1953 The company is now officially known as KTM “Kronreif, Trunkenpolz, Mattighofen”
After company founders Hans Trunkenpolz and Ernst Kronreif and the Austrian location: Mattighofen, where Hans Trunkenpolz began and the manufacturing plant was built. 1992 The newly formed bicycles division KTM Fahrrad GmbH opens up under new management. 1994 First KTM bicycle with Alloy Frame. 1999 since 1964 KTM produces 2.000.000 bicycles. 2001 First powder coated KTM frames are produced. 2004 since 1964 KTM produces 2.500.000 bicycles.
Since 1964 KTM produced and sold almost 3.000.000 bicycles. KTM Bicycle Ltd. is offering a full range of bikes. Design and Production of 150 different models: MTB, Road, Cross, City, Trekking and E-Bikes (pedelecs). Sales and Distribution in 30 countries worldwide. Sales of KTM bikes per year (2008): 163.000 bicycles.

THE EARLY BEGINNINGS

NEW BEGINNINGS
In the beginning of 1992, Stefan Pierer and his Cross Industries company took over KTM and set about not only resurrecting the Austrian brand that began in 1953, but taking it to new levels of success.
HUSQVARNA MOTORCYCLES
When the KTM GROUP acquired the Husqvarna license in early 2013, it was reunited with Husaberg and relaunched as the newly revived 'Husqvarna Motorcycles' brand. 2014 was the first complete business year for the “reborn” Husqvarna Motorcycles. In November 2014 Husqvarna Motorcycles unveiled the VITPILEN 401 and SVARTPILEN 401 concept bikes at the EICMA international motorcycle exhibition, boldly announcing their imminent return to street motorcycle production.
KTM 1190 RC8 & X-BOW
The arrival of KTM’s Superbike RC8, tore-up the rulebook in terms of design and handling performance. The presentation of the KTM X-BOW under-lined KTM’s philosophy – translating the brand´s core values even onto four wheels.
NEW STANDARDS IN SAFETY
In cooperation with BOSCH, KTM developed the MSC (Motorcycle Stability Control) and therewith is the first brand worldwide to present an ABS that works even
while cornering at deep lean angles.
VITPILEN & SVARTPILEN
In 2017, Husqvarna Motorcycles took great pride in making great strides forward in meeting its vision of progressive street motorcycling. As part of the new, innovative street model range, the Husqvarna VITPILEN 401, Husqvarna VITPILEN 701 and the Husqvarna SVARTPILEN 401 will pave the way to an extremely successful future for the brand in this sector. Meticulous and tireless work on making a dynamic return to the street segment enabled the Husqvarna SVARPILEN 701 concept bike to be developed and presented to the public – a progressive, iconic example of the timeless motorcycling culture with cult character.
KTM 790 DUKE
Besides the KTM FREERIDE E-XC, it is primarily the revolutionary 2-stroke Enduros with electronic fuel injection and the announcement of the series version of the 790 DUKE that are attracting attention. In addition, with the prototype of the KTM 790 ADVENTURE R, the brand is daring to look into the future.

KTM took the covers off five new models at the EICMA show: the eagerly anticipated KTM 790 ADVENTURE and KTM 790 ADVENTURE R, the LC4-driven KTM 690 SMC R and KTM 690 ENDURO R as well as the KTM SX-E 5, an electric sportminicycle.

100 World Championship Titles (1960-2019) - 59 years on from the brand’s first world championship success, Husqvarna Motorcycles celebrate 100 world titles in 2019 – 58 rider and 42 manufacturer titles earned across six different motorcycle disciplines.
THE BEAST
On the first day of the EICMA motorcycle fair in Milan, KTM unveiled its latest innovations. The Austrian company presented three brand new models - the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R, the KTM 890 DUKE R and the KTM 390 ADVENTURE - and also had all the other 2020 models at its popular booth.
