Honeywell RCHT9610WFSW2003/W T9 Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat w/ RoomSmart Sensor, The Honeywell RCHT9610WFSW2003/W T9 Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is a feature-rich thermostat designed to provide homeowners with precise control over their heating and cooling systems while offering smart connectivity for remote management.

  1. Wi-Fi Connectivity: This thermostat connects to your home's Wi-Fi network, allowing you to control it remotely through a smartphone app or via web browsers on your computer. This remote control capability provides convenience and energy-saving opportunities.

  2. Smart Home Integration: The T9 is typically compatible with various smart home ecosystems, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This enables you to control your thermostat using voice commands and potentially integrate it into broader smart home automation routines.

  3. Room Sensors: One of the standout features of the T9 is its support for remote room sensors (sold separately). These sensors can be placed in different rooms to monitor temperature and occupancy. The thermostat then uses this information to adjust heating and cooling based on the temperature in specific areas of your home.

  4. Geofencing: The thermostat often supports geofencing technology, which uses your smartphone's location to detect when you're leaving or returning home. This can trigger adjustments to your heating or cooling settings to optimize energy usage.

  5. 7-Day Scheduling: You can create custom heating and cooling schedules for different times of the day and week. This flexibility allows you to save energy when you're not at home or during sleeping hours.

  6. Adaptive Recovery: The thermostat typically employs adaptive recovery algorithms to ensure your home reaches the desired temperature at the scheduled time, maximizing comfort while minimizing energy consumption.

  7. Energy Usage Reports: Many smart thermostats, including the T9, provide energy usage reports and insights. These reports help you track your HVAC system's efficiency and identify opportunities for further energy savings.

  8. Smart Alerts: The thermostat often sends you notifications and alerts, such as filter replacement reminders and system maintenance notifications, to keep your HVAC system running smoothly.

  9. Touchscreen Display: The T9 usually features a user-friendly touchscreen display for manual temperature adjustments and configuration.

  10. Compatibility: The thermostat is designed to work with a wide range of heating and cooling systems, including conventional systems, heat pumps, and dual-fuel systems.

  11. Easy Installation: Honeywell typically provides installation instructions and videos to guide homeowners through the installation process. However, professional installation is also an option if needed.

Compatibility Section
REQUIRED: A C-Wire (common wire) is needed for 24 VAC power. If you do not have a C-Wire, then a C-Wire Adapter is provided.
This guide will help you determine if you have a C-Wire or will need to use the included C-Wire Adapter (Step 10). The C-Wire is a wire that originates from your heating and cooling system and needs to be connected to the C terminal on your thermostat. There is no universal color used to designate this type of wire.

Compatibility Section

  • Compatible with most heating, cooling, and heat pump systems
  • Does not work with electric baseboard heat (120-240V)
  • Does not work with millivolt systems
  • Does not support S terminals for indoor and outdoor sensors
  • Android or iOS smartphone, tablet, or device

Removing your old thermostat
You will need: Screwdriver, needle-nose pliers

  • Turn off power - To protect your equipment, turn off the power at the breaker box or switch that controls you heating and cooling equipment. Note: The thermostat off switch will not turn off the power to the equipment.
  • Check that your system is off - Change the temperature on your old thermostat so that your system starts heating or cooling. If you don’t hear or feel the system turn on within 5 minutes, the power is off.
  • Remove your existing thermostat from the wall plate -  On most thermostats, you can take off the thermostat by grasping and gently pulling. Some thermostats may have screws, buttons, or clasps.

Installing Your New Thermostat
You will need: Level, pencil, drill and a 7/32in drill bit
Position wall plate - Pull open the wall plate that was included with your new thermostat. Insert the bundle of wires through the back of the wall plate. Make sure at least 1/4-inch of each wire nis exposed for easy insertion into the wire terminals.
Insert recommended wall anchors - It is recommended that you use the wall anchors included in the box to mount your thermostat. You can use the wall plate to mark where you want to place the wall anchors.

a) Level the wall plate
b) Mark the location of the wall anchors using a pencil
c) Remove the wall plate
d) Drill the holes using a 7/32” drill bit
e) Insert the wall anchors
f) Make sure the anchors are flush with the wall
g) Reposition the wall plate on wall

Determine Correct R-Switch Position and Insert R-wire or wires
Set the R-switch up or down based on your wiring notes in Step 8. Insert wires into the inner holes of the terminals on the wall plate. The tabs will stay down once the wire is inserted.
